Breaking and Schooling
Since the
beginning of Highland Wildrides and for several years beforehand, we have been
working with horses that have needed to be broken or re-schooled for a variety
of reasons. We dislike the idea of branding any equine a “problem horse” as we
have found so often that the horses themselves are rarely the problem, however,
we understand that some horses have very specific needs in their daily routine
for their riders to get the best out of them, and that some have learnt
behaviours which make them difficult to manage.
We are
happy to take in or work at your home with horses that have behavioural issues
to see if we can get to the bottom of what is causing them to do this. We use
completely non-compulsive techniques (such as those associated with natural and
intelligent horsemanship methods) and will work with owners to find a
management solution that will enable them to get the very best from their
horse. We are also happy to consider all types of horse for breaking although
ponies are our speciality.
Turning a
corner with your horse is totally possible, and highly fulfilling if you can
make this happen yourself. The bond that you will have with your horse once he
knows you understand him and that you can lead him positively through life is
rarely matched by any human-human bond. We will offer you help, understanding,
support and advice through our tuition which will get you through to the
finished result you have dreamed of.
